A skid steer grapple bucket clamps brush, logs and demolition debris that a plain bucket drops. The five here fit full size skid steers on the universal quick attach plate in 66 to 84 inch widths and mini skid steers in a 44 inch size, and each one runs its grapple on your machine's auxiliary hydraulics. Pick a solid bottom grapple bucket to carry loose material with the bulky load, or a root grapple whose open tines let the dirt sift out. Buckets without a grapple are under skid steer buckets.

What is a root grapple?
A root grapple is a skid steer grapple with open tines on the bottom instead of a solid floor, so the dirt falls through while the top grapple holds logs, brush, rock and roots. Star's root grapple bucket uses divided bottom tines that curve up, so they are less likely to catch utility lines.
Root grapple or grapple bucket: which one do you need?
Choose a root grapple for brush, storm cleanup and land clearing where you want the dirt left behind, and a grapple bucket with a solid floor when the load mixes bulky material with loose debris you need to carry. Star's grapple bucket opens 38 1/2 inches on heavy duty models and 45 inches on demolition grade.
Which skid steer grapple fits a mini skid steer?
The 44 inch Star mini grapple bucket and mini root grapple. The 175-MI-44 and 170-MI-44 fit Dingo, Ditch Witch, Vermeer, Boxer and Ramrod, and the 175-MIBC-44 and 170-MIBC-44 fit Bobcat mini loaders. Both run a 2 by 10 inch cylinder and open to 30 inches.
Do you need a heavy duty or demolition grade grapple?
For its root grapple, Star recommends demolition grade on compact track loaders and machines over 70 horsepower or 3,500 pounds of capacity. Heavy duty models come in 66 and 72 inch widths, and demolition grade in 72, 78 and 84 inches, with a heavier 1 by 8 inch cutting edge on the grapple bucket.
Skid Steer Grapple Buckets: questions buyers ask
Does a skid steer grapple need auxiliary hydraulics?
Yes. Every grapple here runs its cylinders on your machine's auxiliary hydraulics. The Star root grapple and the Demo-Dozer come with hoses and couplers, and the Star mini grapples include flat body couplers.
Will a skid steer grapple fit a Bobcat?
The full size grapples here fit skid steers with the universal quick attach plate. Demo-Dozer notes that M style Bobcats need the Bobcat adaptor, and the MIBC versions of the Star mini grapples fit Bobcat mini loaders.
What widths do skid steer grapples come in?
From 66 to 84 inches for full size skid steers and 44 inches for mini skid steers. Star builds heavy duty grapples in 66 and 72 inches and demolition grade in 72, 78 and 84, and the Demo-Dozer comes in 66, 72, 78 and 84.
How much does a grapple bucket weigh?
The Demo-Dozer weighs about 1,068 pounds at 66 inches and 1,290 pounds at 84 inches. Ask us for the weight of any Star model in your width.
Can a grapple bucket push dirt like a dozer?
The Demo-Dozer can. TM Manufacturing built it to work as a material bucket, dozer blade, demolition grapple, clam shell, log handler and 4 in 1 bucket, with chain hooks and tool receivers built in.
